BLUE BLOODS “Family Ties” Review

BLUE BLOODS (CBS) Family Ties

BLUE BLOODS “Family Ties” Season 1 Episode 12 – There was a lot of history in this episode. First up there was Frank’s past with Bushenko, the father of the murder victim on Danny’s case. Though I did appreciate how that allowed Frank to become a part of the case a little bit himself. I was worried when I first started watching this show that Frank was going to do nothing but sit behind a desk. Since Tom Selleck was a big draw for me to watch this show, that didn’t appeal to me much. So I’m glad to see they keep finding ways to bring him onto the cases and into the stories.

In this one, Frank couldn’t help but to feel some sympathy for a man who had just lost a son, but I’m glad that he still vowed to get the son of a bitch. The final scene with Danny arresting Bushenko was like watching everything come full circle, with the son carrying out the duties of the father.

The other history was between Jackie and her old school chum Anna. I think it was interesting how we got to see a glimpse of where Jackie’s life could have ended up had she gone in another direction. It was a very scary direction too, considering it ended with a mother deciding to murder her daughter’s fiancé to save her from the life she had lived. Seems to me that Jackie made the right choice.

My favorite bits…

Frank asking why he should know if his son was assigned to the case, as he doesn’t assign detectives to cases. I just love it when he points out to people that he and his family don’t want any special treatment.

Anna accusing Jackie of being jealous of her. Ha! Yeah, I don’t think so lady.

On Jamie finding out that Lydia “ate her gun.” Okay now why do I think that may not be the whole story? And why do I also think that this might be connected to the Blue Templars?

Frank telling Max to grieve for his son and sit out the search for his killer.

Thinking that Sergei might still need some more of those anger management classes, considering how grumpy he was when Danny and Jackie were talking to him.

Erin asking if the city didn’t deserve to have its business done honestly. Well said!

Finding it funny that Frank thought his dad sometimes couldn’t remember that he was all grown up, considering the age of both of them.

Frank saying he never did put in that good word for the boss who made him deputy chief. LOL.

Frank telling she earned every position she ever got, just like he did. I don’t doubt that at all.

Sergei’s truck blowing up two seconds after he refused to go with Danny and Jackie. Yikes.

Frank vowing that no one was going to turn his city in Baghdad.

Anna trying to claim that she killed her daughter’s fiancé for Sophia’s own good.

Danny calling Boris a “dumb-dumb.” Whoa Danny, watch that potty mouth, will ya? LOL.

Danny’s satisfied little smile as he stood outside the door with Boris screaming inside.

Henry bringing flowers to Erin. Aw.

Frank being there to watch his son arrest Brushenko.

Mokibo! You’re making me think I imagined the hesitant giddiness I felt re: Erin & The D.A.’s kiss. Did it really happen or did I dream it last night?

I am hesitant though, since we can’t really trust the DA- he’s used Erin politically in the past. But I couldn’t help but cheer the thought of Erin gettin’ some.

No you didn’t imagine it but I think I glossed over it because I don’t trust him yet and so the kiss kinda made me go “meh”. Yes it is nice that she is gettin’ some though. I think I’m gonna hold out till I see a little more from this guy. I swear, I feel like a protective sister to her or something. LOL.

I enjoyed this episode, except I really want to see more episodes centered on Jamie, and a little less of Erin. While I like her character, I feel that stories about Jamie have more potential. My favorite part was the kiss at the end, wasn’t expecting it AT ALL!

Yeah that kiss caught me off guard too.

I do wish they’d kick up Jamie’s storyline because the teeny tiny bits they let drop do nothing except annoy me right now. Actually let it come to light and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it more.
