CHASE “Narco, Part 1″ Review

Chase (NBC) Nico, Part 1

CHASE “Narco, Part 1″ Season 1 Episode 12 – This episode featured one of the more unusual captures I’ve seen on this show. First of all, it started out with the team making an arrest, which is unusual enough given that they usually start the show with some sort of crime and escape. After that, things go back to normal until the end when their fugitive willingly gives herself up in order to save her son and all hell breaks loose.

I can’t say that I was too surprised by the ending, not after they made it so obvious that Annie was going to be a target. Is it just me or does she have the worst luck ever? The poor girl is always getting blown up or shot and now she’s been kidnapped. I’m looking forward to what affect it will have on the rest of the team though, to have to figure out how to rescue her.

I really enjoyed the team bonding in this episode. Everyone hanging out at the barbecue in the beginning was awesome. I also really enjoyed getting some background on Marco and finding out more about him.

My favorite bits…

The look that little girl gave Jimmy through the window. Classic.

Being equally grossed out and admiring of the hitman firing his gun through the peep-hole. Graphic yes, but it sure was smart.

Natalie showing Annie the ring. I kinda dig that she’s gonna propose to him instead of the other way around.

Wondering what kind of power this Isabella woman has, to get a police officer’s personal phone number so that she could threaten him and get him off her tail.

The cop admitting that he loved his job but he loved his family more.

The mom telling her son that he was spoiled.. um, who exactly was responsible for that, lady?

Thinking this thought as soon as I saw the plane taxiing down the runway – “Man, I really, really hoping that Annie wasn’t going to end up jumping on another plane.”

Annie granting the kid’s wish and arresting him.

Natalie telling Jimmy that she didn’t want him worrying so much about her that he didn’t keep himself safe. Yep, I’m liking this chick more and more.

Giggling when Marco told Jimmy “you should marry that girl.” Ha!

Knowing that Isabella was beyond cold when she shot a pregnant woman.

Finding out that Marco’s last partner was not only on the take but that Marco had been forced to kill him. Whoa.

Annie noticing that Luke’s knife looked just like Jimmy’s. Aw, ain’t that sweet?

Totally believing Jimmy when he threatened to throw O’Neill out the window.

Getting a kick out of Annie turning the tables on Isabella with a threatening call.

Total shock when the shooters came out. I didn’t care that they got Isabella but the kid getting caught in the crossfire was awful.

Jimmy waking up Natalie and slipping a ring on her finger.

Totally expecting a car to hit Annie since she was sitting there for so long.

What did you think of this episode of Chase? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!

I’m going to have to rewatch this ep today. My friend and I chat during the show every week and we both said the same thing- did they hire the Lost writers to do this ep with all the complicated storylines? They completely ignored the whole “US Marshals” thing. Unless Isabella had been imprisoned at any point, why were THEY involved in catching her instead of the regular police.

I read an article awhile back about the writers’ stance on Jimmy/Annie. If I remember right, they basically said- it just wasn’t going in that direction. Yet they still include scenes every week of some kind of jannie intimacy. I think a lot of fans are on the Jannie train and just want natalie gone. The writers seem to waffle back & forth- they give us scenes of Annie being all “love-triangle-y” but then it’s like, she’s the only one in the triangle, haha. Instead of having Jimmy look conflicted at all after his evening chat with post-shot Annie, he wakes up Nat & has a romantic moment. (Bias revealed- I am such a Jannie fan) Am I the only one noticing this back & forth?

Well I think that the reason they were involved was because the original case was theirs. But I totally know what you mean though about the complicated storylines.

Hmm…interesting. I think that my mind has been set from day one that there would be no “Jannie” (love that term by the way, LOL) that I’ve never seen any moments between them like that. I see them as complicated because let’s face it, men and women working together closely (or any sex for that matter) is always bound to get complicated. I was part of an interview with the series creator and she said that when she introduces other characters into Annie or Jimmy’s lives, there will be affects. But not in a romantic fashion, More in a way of how it will affect their relationship as pseudo brother & sister or pseudo mom&dad of the team.
