THE GOOD GUYS Cancelled

Another fun show bites the dust. In very disappointing but completely unsurprising news, Deadline is reporting that THE GOOD GUYS has been cancelled. While FOX itself has not released an official statement, a high-ranking source at Fox Television Studios confirmed to the Dallas Observer’s ‘Unfair Park’ blog that no more episodes would be produced.

In an unusual move, FOX ordered the Matt Nix buddy cop dramedy starring Bradley Whitford, Colin Hanks, and Bradley Whitford’s mustache straight to series for a summer run, but the show never got the ratings necessary to keep it on the air, either in the summer or fall.

Any The Good Guys fans left out there? Why do you think it never caught on? I think it was just too quirky and hard to define for a network show.

Oh, I’m so depressed about this. My opinion on this? Well, Fox is too busy making reality shows, and could care less about other programs. It was not well promoted, put on Friday night, which is a horrible slot, and not given enough time to hit it’s stride. I think if it had been on a cable channel, like USA or TNT, it would have done much better.

    RIP to the ‘stache.

How could they do this…My mother and I cried through the finale because of the rumors that there would be no more. The actors and actresses was so utterly, wildly fantastic! The police chief was the best police chief we’d ever seen written into a story. The story telling and editing were out of this wold wonderful!

HOW COULD THEY DO THIS! I recommended it to all of my friends, and they adored it too! Were the mustaches too much of a guilty pleasure for people to talk about how much they liked this show? It was the best show on this past season! The most original. The most humorous. The most exciting! The one with the most fully-developed characters and character building!

A good example of the reason it never caught on was the penultimate episode. They have Josh Malina come in and play a part just to build up for 40 minutes for him to say the line “I’m not that good of an actor.” Yes, haha Brad has made him say that twice. But, without knowing that Brad made Malina say it in an episode of West Wing that he wrote and their ongoing gags, it’s not that big of a deal and how many people get that?

I liked the show, it was fresh, funny, entertaining…

I really liked this show. Why not put it on the USA Network? Worked for Monk and Burn Notice. Come on. Make my day!

Advertise, advertise, advertise. Not enough people knew about The Good Guys. Sad, very sad.

Maybe Matt Nix can get it picked up on one of the cable channels.
Make a nice compliment to Burn Notice. Between the cancellation of this and Terriers, not sure what some of these networks are looking for. Both were good shows with excellent cast and great, great writing.

As much as I would like that, I think the show is truly dead. If only it had been originally picked up by USA instead of FOX…

it was such an amazing show, its not right that it was cancelled. fox never gave it a chance because few people watch friday night tv. it was a fresh, original, hilarious, dramatic show that my friends and i loved. they just needed to promote some more. theres no reason it didnt catch on other than that

I Am A DIE Hard Good Guys Fan. I Even Have A Pic As My Background.I Miss These Guys So Much. Just Why W#as It That Necessary To Cancel It. It Is Really A Great Show. It Was Put On Death Night (Friday). If You Would Have Changed The Night & Time,It Would Have Made A Great Difference. There Are Some Other Shows Fox Runs That Really Deserve Cancellation. Like Fringe For Instance. Make A Trade Off With Atleast One Of The Bad Shows. I’m Sure You Know Which Ones They Are. Please Bring The Good Guys BACK!
