LIE TO ME “Smoked” Review

LIE TO ME (FOX) Smoked

LIE TO ME “Smoked” Season 3 Episode 8 – Well we had a nice long break without Wallowski for a while on this show, which was fine by me. After all the trouble she caused the last time she was around, I was happy to see her gone for a bit. But if the end of this episode was any indication, it looks like she’s somewhat officially Cal’s new girlfriend… I think?

Now, a month ago I probably wouldn’t have liked that idea at all, as I didn’t enjoy her last appearance that much and what she did to the dynamic between Cal and Foster (even though I’m of the opinion that those two should stay friends). After her time away, plus the fact that she didn’t disrupt things too much this time, I think I may finally be starting to warm to Wallowski. I’m at least willing to see how this all plays out.

Also, unless my eyes deceived me, it looks like Torres just recruited a new guy off the street. Well I guess that makes sense, considering she herself was recruited out of an airport security line. So it looks like Lie To Me might be adding another new castmember. I know we only got to see this guy for a few minutes, and some of those were spent mugging Torres, but I’m intrigued enough by him to want to see more.

Overall I was happy with this episode, new cast and all.

My favorite bits..

Cal asking Emily if she’d been drinking. LOL.

Eli noticing that he stuck out like a “white thumb”. Ha!

Total surprise at Torres getting mugged. Scary that she tried to fight back, though I admire her tenacity.

Not being able to help giggling at the way Cal asked Torres “where’s my camera?”. He’s such a bastard and that’s why we love him.

This bit:
Wallowski: “It’s like two rattlesnakes in a bag.”
Eli: “Time for the scorpion.” (as Cal walks in the interrogation room with the fighting brothers)

Cal standing back and watching the brothers tackle each other.

The dual interrogations – Cal and Wallowski each taking one scumbag in a separate room to ask them about the shooting.

Cal throwing his arm around Foster when they were walking down the hallway together. Such a sweet gesture and it had me wondering if that was something in the script or if Tim just did that himself.

Finding out that Foster’s story about her brother was bogus. Nice! She is a great liar.

The looks shared between Foster and Wallowski. Whew.. talk about being able to cut it with a knife.

Wondering what Torres was doing back on the street where she got mugged and what significance there was in the jacket she went through so much trouble to find.

Torres walking forward to hide the kid from the guys in the truck and making him nervous just by having her hands in her coat pockets.

Not being one tiny bit surprised when Jim “woke up” from his coma. I so knew Cal was getting Teddy to confess so Jim could hear it.

This bit:
Cal: “What, you mean England?”
Emily: “I thought we were Australian.”

Emily and Cal discussing whether or not he had a “new.. you know”.

Cal not being as upset that Emily was playing poker on his account when he saw she was ahead.

The episode ending with Cal pounding away on that old typewriter and calling out for white-out.

What did you think of this episode of Lie To Me? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
