Julia Louis-Dreyfus to Star in HBO Comedy Pilot VEEP

Julia Louis Dreyfus

Julia Louis-Dreyfus might be back on television soon. Entertainment Weekly reports that she has landed the lead role in new HBO comedy pilot VEEP, which the network describes as “a comedy set very near the White House.”

Louis-Dreyfus will play Vice President of the United States Selina Meyer, a former senator who learns being vice president is very different than she expected.

The Veep pilot was written by Simon Blackwell and Armando Iannucci. Iannucci will direct the pilot and serve as executive producer. Chris Godsick and Frank Rich are also on board as executive producers while Louis-Dreyfus will be a producer.

Louis-Dreyfus recently finished a five year run as the title character in CBS’ The New Adventures of Old Christine, but she is still best known as Elaine Benes from NBC’s Seinfeld.

Does Veep sound like a show you would watch?
