The market for video streaming just became more crowded with the introduction of Orb TV from Orb Networks. The small, hockey-puck shaped device will sell for $99.
The new unit from Orb Networks is designed to search the internet for the shows the user tells it to look for, without needing to know where in particular to look for it. On the downside, Orb TV is not a standalone device like other competitors. Rather, customers must download a program to their PC or Mac to run the program. On the plus side however, users are confined to watching their favorite shows on their computer only. Orb TV allows users to watch on any TV, anywhere in their home.
Other positive features of Orb TV include the ability to control the unit with a smartphone. The Orb Caster app is available in the iPhone app store and Google’s Android Market, and allows users to control their device with their smartphone.
