Warner Brothers and ABC Family are apparently hoping our interest in witches doesn’t end with Halloween because the Hollywood Reporter says they are attempting a new television series reboot of the 1998 Sandra Bullock-Nicole Kidman film PRACTICAL MAGIC.
Based on an Alice Hoffman novel, Practical Magic told the saga of Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters in a long line of witches who live under a curse that states if any Owens woman finds true love with a man, he dies tragically.
CBS tried to adapt the film to series in 2003, but the Kim Delaney-Jeri Ryan project didn’t make it past the pilot stage. This latest reboot is in the very early stages, so there are no casting or production details.
Would you tune in to ABC Family for a Practical Magic TV series? Who would you cast as Sally and Gillian?
