SMALLVILLE “Harvest” Season 10 Episode 6 – When Clark gets Lois out of Smallville so she won’t endanger herself covering an anti-hero rally, he does not anticipate the dangers in the countryside. Lessons to take away from this episode: if a dimpled twelve year old girl in a bonnet offers you lemonade, knock her unconscious with a two by four and run.
Lois did not heed this advice, but instead found herself the damsel in distress. The small faithful town, so obsessed with sacrificing women every twenty years (they’ve actually never sacrificed one-if their daughter was killed by the meteor shower, and Lois was to be their second victim, then they are totally untrained in the sacrificial mode), decides Lois is to be their next victim to be burned alive.
I really liked the Clark and Lois story. It won’t go down as one of my favourites, or even as one that I will particularly remember when thinking back on Smallville, but it was just so great to see Lois and Clark together, without any secrets hampering their relationship.
Of course, Lois always gets the best lines. My favourite was probably: “In the meantime you should change your clothes, or you’re going to stick out like a stripper in a seminary.” That or the comment about the inopportune moments Clark takes off his shirt.
But let’s get real. Tess and Lex stole the episode. Everything about their storyline was brilliant: the ‘S’ on the birthday plate, the vial of possible cure being thrown into the fire, the key, the slap. Tess tried to be a mother, and after last week I was positive that she and Lex would bond, something would happen to her which Lex would blame Clark for, and she would ultimately become the catalyst for the battle between Clark and Lex.
Tess sending Lex back to the lab? I didn’t see it coming at all. Not that Lex doesn’t deserve it, but as he is now, in the form of a mutant child, it is hard to think Tess is justified.
What did you think about this episode, particularly the Tess and Lex strand? Have you any predictions for the future of their relationship? And how old do you think Lex will be next week? Sound off in the comments below!
