HOLLYWOOD TREASURE Panel with Joe Maddalena (Syfy Digital Press Tour)

HOLLYWOOD TREASURE panel Syfy Digital Press Tour
Syfy’s new half hour reality series, HOLLYWOOD TREASURE, premieres tonight, October 27, at 10pm. So how about learning a little more about the series to get you ready?

During the Syfy Digital Press Tour, we not only had to chance to hear Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History, talk about the show and his experience as an auctioneer, but we also got to see some of the memorabilia first hand, including the famous Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Golden Ticket (I definitely got a kick out of that one) and the Sports Almanac from Back to the Future, which you can see in the photos below.

Here are some fun facts that we learned during the panel:

- Joe Maddalena travels the world to find those memorabilia, and it seems that a lot of people have things at home that they have no idea what it’s worth. I wish I had that problem!

- The wicked witch’s hat from The Wizard of Oz was sold for $89,000.

- The ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz is what he dreams of finding.

- The #1 requested costume is the Iron Man costume, which is probably worth $500,000 if it was worn by Robert Downey Jr.

- Joe Maddalena found Captain Kirk’s chair from Star Trek, which turns out was being used as a barstool by someone before it was sold for $300,000.

And if you want more, check out the video from the panel below, and enjoy more photos as well.

I could not believe that hat sold for $89,000 when Joe quoted it lower. I was really happy for that woman though. This is definitely a fun and interesting show. I have already set my DVR up for it :)

I know right! Although now I wish I had some valuable memorabilia. Maybe I should’ve kept all these toys I had. I blame my parents for making me throw them out, one of them could have been the next Golden Ticket, I’m just saying. ;-)

No kidding! My cousin kept a lot of toys, mostly Star Wars, in original packaging. Wasn’t she thinking ahead? Strange little child ;)
