NCIS “Cracked” Season 8 Episode 6 – Well the timing for this week’s episode was perfect, giving us an Abby themed one just in time for Halloween. Also perfect for me since she’s one of my favorite characters on the show and I even dressed up as Abby last Halloween. Now at first I was a little disappointed that there wasn’t more Halloweenish (yep totally just made that word up) stuff, then again that kind of went along with what happened to Abby. Since she became fascinated by a woman she saw as a kindred spirit and lost herself for a bit while trying to solve the mystery. Only at the very end does she come back and that’s when she puts up her decorations. It was a great metaphor for the whole episode.
I really like it when Abby gets a chance to come out of the background and Pauley did a wonderful job. I also liked how everyone else around Abby reacted to the way she became so involved. She and McGee had some nice moments, as did she and Gibbs. It was sweet to see both of them worried about her and though they didn’t show his reaction as much, I think Tony was worried too, as evidenced by the fact that he got pissed at McGee for losing her on the bus.
The secondary story with Tony dressing up and role playing for his girlfriend was so-so. It was pretty obvious that the costume was going to be something silly, though I was hoping he wouldn’t be the butt of a huge joke (again). But this was Abby’s episode so I’m willing to look past that and just concentrate on the stuff I liked.
My favorite bits…
Tony calling McGee “McTween”
Tony reassuring Gibbs that he would be able to pull off wearing a leotard.. and the image it put in my head making me want to gouge my eyes out.
Palmer once again finding the exact inappropriate thing to say in front of a dead body.
Abby’s “Holy Mother of Einstein!”. Oh I am so gonna be using that one now.
Tony asking the girl’s boss “Mel Gibson much?”.
McGee knowing that Abby was fine, she was just thinking.
Gibbs and Tony sharing similar expressions for a second there while they both looked at the plasma.
Abby admitting that she’d had “eleventeen” Caff-Pow!’s so far that day.
McGee’s reassurance that they’d find Abby, though I don’t know if he was talking more to himself than Gibbs.
Abby not shutting up until Gibbs was forced to raise his voice. I know he only did it because she didn’t listen the first time he asked, but it was still such a surprise.
The woman’s mother begging Abby to put emotion aside and let her daughter go.
Gibbs figuring out the one bit of the puzzle that Abby could not.
The look on Palmer’s face when Gibbs sent him off to work a lead. So cool!
Tony being afraid that he was offending the movie gods by dressing up as Travolta. LOL.
Abby going back for the book.
So what did you think of this episode of NCIS? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
