DEXTER “Hello, Bandit” Review

DEXTER "Hello, Bandit"

DEXTER Season 5 Episode 2 “Hello, Bandit” – Dexter looks at homes and apartments to help the children move on from their mother’s death. When he rents a moving truck, he’s stumbles onto the trail of a possible target. Debra avoids dealing with Quinn while they investigate the decapitation and possible suicide of a couple in a Spanish neighborhood.

In this episode of Dexter “Hello, Bandit” , the man got a week off to settle his affairs. And while he does make a valiant effort to restore normalcy to his newly downsized family, Astor can’t let go and it’s causing stress for the family. Not to mention Debra, who has five extra people crammed into her apartment. This pushes her to Quinn’s place and his sofa.

I hate the relationship between Angel and LaGuerta. Get divorced already, have the fallout scenes, and let’s never speak of it again if there’s further seasons. The same goes for Debra and Quinn. Fortunately, Quinn will likely be dead at the end of the season since he’s the new antagonist. Here’s hoping because I never liked that guy. I mean, I don’t have anything against him personally, but he adds little to the show. And Dexter already killed one of Debra’s lovers, so when they go for the angle of Debra distraught over Quinn’s disappearance, we’ll sit back and yawn.

We were treated with a long scene with Astor in the bathroom where her mother was murdered. The young actress isn’t the best, but it made for an interesting scene we’re not normally witness to in Dexter.

This new serial killer feels a little overpowered for the second episode. He’s no Trinity Killer. And there’s at least four dead women in the swamps that the cops have heard nothing about. But I’m sure we’ll get a scene where a detective says, “I ran a search and four more missing women popped on [COP DATABASE ACRONYM].” Followed immediately by: “Hey, they all have the same hair color.” Then a new woman goes missing. Dun dun duunn.

Debra is going to be teamed up with a patrol officer for her investigation. She’ll get uppity for awhile and be reminded by LaGuerta or Angel that it wasn’t that long ago when Debra herself was a lowly uniform working Vice. It might be interesting if Debra had much respect for herself.

So far this season of Dexter is shaping up to be as bad as Season 3. One thing I liked, it was a small thing, but it spoke volumes. When the kids leave with their grandparents, you can see Dexter grinding his jaw, exposing cracks in sociopathy. I thought that was a striking touch of humanity.

ya know, it’s weird but i actually liked season 3 lol. hence i don’t mind season 5. it is so interesting and at least the quinn/debra thing will be a good comic relief (that and Dexter’s inner monologues).

why is everyone disliking the debra/quinn thing? i don’t see what’s so wrong with it. but i agree on this season looking like it’s going to be as week as season 3. i was hoping rita’s death would make this season really dark but i guess it hasn’t really so far.
