British comedy The Inbetweeners is the latest show to get an American remake. According to Deadline, MTV has greenlit the pilot episode and hired Brad Copeland (Arrested Development, My Name is Earl) to be showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
MTV describes The Inbetweeners as Superbad meets Freaks and Geeks. It’s a high school comedy about four boys who walk “inbetween” the popular and geeky cliques.
“The Inbetweeners is one of the best comedies to come out of the UK in years,” said MTV Executive Vice-President David Janollari. “It’s unique and bold, its approach to contemporary teen coming-of-age stories is universal and simply hilarious, and it will resonate immensely with our core demographic.”
The BAFTA-award winning comedy is currently in its third and final season in the UK.
