An ex-NSA cyber-terrorism expert is kidnapped in brought daylight, all while on the phone with his son in this episode of HAWAII FIVE-0, called “Ohana”. Meanwhile, Kono’s Police Academy graduation ceremony is coming up and she wants all of her family there, including Chin. He’s not so sure it’s a good idea, seeing how every other cop in the city thinks he’s dirty, and he doesn’t want her to get the same reputation just from being seen with him. The team narrows down the kidnappers to a Serbian group, but when Kono and the boy are kidnapped too, they have to figure out how to save them all while preventing a breach of national security. The bad guys need the guy to shut down a radar system so that they can get a plane flown in and as soon as he sees his son, he’s more than ready to do it. The team gets there just after the plane lands, but they still manage to catch all the bad guys. After all the excitement, Kono misses her graduation but the team gives her one themselves, complete with gifts and a swearing-in.
My favorite bits…
Totally thinking the kid was going to call his dad something else when he said “dictator”. LOL.
The poor kid on the phone having to listen to his father not only get into an accident, but kidnapped as well.
Danny pointing out that he likes his tie because he wants to look like he’s from the mainland. Funny how he somehow looks more sloppy in a tie and button down shirt than McGarrett looks in teeshirts. I do like the tie though.
Finding out that they haven’t found Hess’ body yet. Ooh. so maybe we’ll get James Marsters back on the show someday. Yay.
Realizing that the kid was Litte! Sam from Supernatural. Love that kid.
McGarrett’s way of calming the little boy in the elevator not working nearly as well as Danny talking to the kid about hippos.
The guys having very difference interrogation techniques – Danny gives the bad guy a rundown of what can happen if he leaves his wound untreated and McGarrett just goes ahead and hangs him off of a roof.
The argument in the car between McGarrett and Danny. So brilliant as both guys totally had a point and were each kinda right, but I loved how they both got it out of their system.
Danny telling McGarrett that he knew a guy who could help them figure out all the computer stuff and that he was genius about 42 minutes of the day, the rest of the time he was “baked like a potato”
Danny and McGarrett finally agreeing on something when they both told “Toast” he couldn’t smoke while he was working.
Admiring the fight between Kono and Nadia. It had knives and went from the kitchen, through a wall and into the pool.
Kono getting herself smacked around in order to get to the nail on the floor.
McGarrett’s tarzan flight off of the deck using a chain. Nice.
Danny asking McGarrett if “Book’em Danno” was going to become a thing now that he’d used it twice. Poor Danny. LOL.
The guys all standing in their uniforms when Kono came out of the locker room to give her a graduation ceremony. I especially liked that McGarrett mentioned how they are liked a family and will always do anything to protect each other.
Overall I’m really enjoying Hawaii Five-0 and though I thought I was going to like McGarrett’s character more (not based on anything more than the ads), I have found myself really digging Danny. He’s loud and boisterous but he’s basically just trying to be a good cop and a good father.
What did you think of the episode? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
