SOUTHLAND Renewed For Season 3 by TNT

Southland

It’s official, SOUTHLAND will be back for a third season! TNT has renewed the critically acclaimed drama for an additional 10 episodes, which are slated to begin airing in January 2011.

“SOUTHLAND is a challenging, visceral show that engages viewers with its immersive style, provocative storylines and complex characters,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming, for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “These qualities have made SOUTHLAND a favorite among critics and appointment viewing for an extremely loyal audience.”

Can I get a woo hoo?!! This doesn’t really come as too big of a surprise since Southland seems very in line with TNT’s programming. That said I am glad it’s finally official and really looking forward to some new stories.

So glad SouthLAnd got renewed…. It is one of my favorite shows and I haven’t missed an episode yet between the NBC (BOO) and TNT (YEAH!!) showings I also enjoyed seeing the reruns on my Comcast OnDemand and off the first season DVD! Nice to see a great show continue and I cannot wait for January 2011 now. =0)

I was ecstatic when I read that they’re renewing southland! It’s the kind of show that draws you in right from the beginning and I’ve really missed having new episodes. There are so many storylines they can expand on now. Also, Ben McKenzie looks so sexy in a police uniform :)

I am ecstatic that TNT will broadcast the third season of “Southland,” one of the most intelligent, well-written, and brilliantly acted shows on TV. I believe that Michael Cudlitz deserves an Emmy for his complex portrayal of a troubled but dedicated police officer.

I only wish that a fraction of the programs on television were as intelligent as this one.

There was one that was as good, in Canada a few years ago called Intelligence. It was however burried by the CBC as it was a little to close to reality, and steped on a few too many political toes.
Because the CBC (Canadian govt owned) owned the show, no other broadcaster was allowed to pick it up, and it ended after 2 seasons. It was raw and gritty, just like Southland. The type of show you can really sink your teeth into.

I am so glad this terrific series has been renewed for another season. It’s refreshing to see an adult drama so well written and exceptionally well acted, that doesn’t talk down to its viewers. I was royally pissed when it was cancelled off the network after having such a tremendous first great season, but was equally excited when I heard it got picked up by TNT. TNT is rapidly becoming the “go-to” station for entertaining drama series, and is well on its way to be the network I check out first before NBC, ABC or CBS. Keep up the great work.

I do not watch cop drama’s and I do not like cop drama’s… but Southland has hit me hard. Impeccable characterization, unexpected believable story lines and some superb performances and filming makes me so sad that each series has only 6-7 episodes. Why does America not watch this stuff? I just don’t get it… but I guess in a place where McDonalds is considered food and reality TV is where people get ‘famous’, the surprise of such a great series being ignored really isn’t much of a surprise.

Agreed! southland is my favorite show right now. I had not heard about it until a friend from work recommended it to me. I watched the hole first and second season in one two days and I can not wait until the third. This is by far the best police series i have seen. Good job my friends…good job
