I can not believe they did that to Spartacus and Varro! That was and is sickening. They had better have something far worse in store for the dimented Iliythia!

Favorite show, great acting & plots!!!

YES! Great Episode but one of MUCH SADNESS! Varro was a very cool character! I hated to see his death like that, I never saw that coming either! I totally agree with Boldo, Cody, Austin and especially Rusty! I felt the same way… YELLING NO NO NO at the screen when i saw it!
I thought Varro’s death would trigger the revolt at that very moment… It was almost similar to Kubrick’s turning point..
I’ll never forget one of the Roman women saying..” ohhh whats wrong now…” after which Spartacus throws the spear and all hell breaks loose at the Ludus…
but in this storyline it seems that this Spartacus does not yet have the allegiance of all the gladiators… however the table has been set for Spartacus to unify the Gladiators and destroy Batiatus in the final 3 Episodes! I HOPE they have good ratings and there will be a SEASON 2!!
Lentulus Batiatus was played by Peter Ustinov in Kubrick’s 1960 film Spartacus where Ustinov won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
LOVE THIS PRODUCTION AND Steven S. DeKnight’s vision of Capua during this period!
IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT CHECK OUT THE KUBRICK VERSION!!

This episode simply made me mad. I’m not going to give too much, but “That” was a cruel twist. Still a great episode. This show is beyond amazing, with the gore, choreographed fights, and the twists in the Story, simply said this show has everything.

i have to admit.. it was amazing.. i havent seen a series like this in yearsss. It leaves HBO’s Rome in the dust. I plan my friday night around it.. and not just to watch those fine ass mens’ bodies.. (been accused of that); the storyline twists are amazing, the writing, the acting, everything.. the special effects are just icing on the cake. THis episode was soo sad though.. it was terrible..but amazing. I watched it back and back and still couldnt believe it!

  • Cody

The ending 10 minutes almost brought a tear to my eye…I just did not see that coming. You could see at the end when Spartacus threw his fit in his room that the twisted Romans re awoke the Thracian inside him. I feel lots of revenge coming…seriously the ending episodes are going to be badass. This show ceases to amaze me, I wish Whitfield a fast treatment and recovery so they can get to shooting that awesome 2nd season properly titled Spartacus:Vengeance.

  • Austin

never have i had such feeling from a tv show. a movie maybe, but not a tv show. their friendship was fantastically acted and believable. his death sickened me and brought a tear to my eye. i hope that bitch dies a terrible death.

i can only hope they don’t discontinue this series on stars. Far the best series ever put on T.V. Lets all hope it comes back next year.

    • jet

The feelings I had when they killed Varro they truly succeeded in producing a MAGNIFICENT. There is NOTHING which is available better than this on currently.

  • Michael

I hope Spartacus kills eveybody on the whole damn show after this one… One at a time and very SLOW…and before he kills Iliythia, I hope he grudge Fu@&s her one more time!

Varro should not have been killed off. I thought that turn of events was just not right. LOVE the show, get back to all the male nudity, seems to have taken a back seat and that’s what helped make the show hot.

wait that was the end of the first season. that freaken sucks i am stuck to the sreen when im watching this show. god that sucks or some please tell me im mistaken and there is one more episode.

    • spiritman

      @mdub07
No, there are 3 more episodes left in this season. Season 1 contains 13 episodes.

I love this show! It is the only show that I look forward to seeing what is coming next. I also hate that Varro was taken out and I cried watching the scene. But I feel that this will play a major part in Spartacus wanting to escape. I am looking forward to seeing how Crixus and Spartacus will become allies in escaping. I personally believe that something must happen to Naevia for Crixus to want to leave. (Crixus has to be one of the finest men on the planet). This is the best show ever!

  • Damian

wow! what an upsetting episode to say the least. These people or so corrupt and devoid of any compassion! I can not wait and hope to hell Lilthia get’s what is coming to her and hope it is terrible death.

  • Anon

These events demonstrated the upper-class sociopathy that was prevalent in the Roman empire.

    Great show, saddening episode…

Do someone know what it the name of the song at the end of the 10th episode when Varro died??

    • ouig

I’m guessing you’re talking about the song in the scenes after Varro died, and when Sparacus got all angry and tried to trash his room? That one is a remade version of the song “In the House – In a Heartbeat” by John Murphy from the movie “28 Days Later” (It was also featured in “28 Weeks Later.” It’s always been an emotional song; however, I almost found it to be out-of-place in an ancient roman setting, it just reminds me of 28 Days/Weeks Later which is, of course, modern. Plus, it seemed that since they had to “recompose it,” they added in more things like a violin, an electric guitar to make it sound more of a rock piece. The beginning sounded awesome though, helped the emotionality of the song.

    • Alll

Ahh thank you very much for all these information. I also made some research on my side and I arrived at the same conclusion. I’m still trying to find out how to purshace the song or download it, thank you again for the attention!

    • Gius3pp3

The song you look for my friend is called I have done a terrible thing, search youtube : ).

  • James T

This series actually is the first program in a long time that I just can’t wait to see the next episode. I watch it every week and fret until the end of the week to see what will happen next. What would have been a great twist in the “Whore” episode is if the “B” would have gotten pregnant with Spartacus’ baby. lol

  • lordin

the death of sura was bad enough, but to kill varro in such a manner was a complete screwup! i hope this will at least trigger spartacus revolt once and for all. and the directors better have some thing very gruesome for ilythia; otherwise the show sucks.

  • Dorothy

The death of Varo touched me, like it was real life, yet just a series. I moaned with Spartacus painfully that he had to kill his own brother, due to Likinia’s treachery……..I cant wait for Spartucus’s vengence on her.
