COMMUNITY “Introduction to Film” Review (Season 1 Episode 3)

COMMUNITY Introduction to Film

COMMUNITY produced another outstanding episode tonight with “Introduction To Film”. For all you other fans out there remember that the show is moving to 8:00 pm starting next week.

Community is quickly turning into one of my favorite shows this season. So far each episode has been super funny. Whereas NBC’s other Thursday night comedy, “Parks and Recreation”, tried to use the same formula as “The Office”, Community is unique and surprisingly refreshing. The cast also works perfectly together. On paper, I would have never put these actors together, but on screen, its genius.

The best part of tonight’s Community for me was the guest star appearance by John Michael Higgins (The Breakup, Couple Retreat, Yes Man). Higgins’s is such a huge talent and always steals whatever scene he’s in. He even managed to out-shine Jim Carey in their scenes together in “Yes Man” if you ask me. In “Introduction To Film” he played the part of the out-there film professor perfectly. I thought he totally put Jeff in his place by ripping his clothes and his hairdo. Here a few of my favorite quotes from tonight’s show:

Troy: “I’m going to pound you like a boy, that did not come out right”

Abed’s Dad to Jeff: “go host American idol

Britta: “Why are you dressed like a 80s rapist”?

Abed: “It isn’t called friend-business, its called show-business”

Abed: “Documentaries are like real movies but with ugly people.”

Another one of my favorite moments was when Chevy Chase’s character, Pierce, teaches Troy to sneeze like a man. The best one by far was the “drive it home” sneeze. It’s also cool that McHale is not taking himself too seriously by all the Seacrest references (if you watch The Soup on the E! channel you’ll know what I’m talking about). So anyway, great episode, I plan on tuning in next week at the new time.

I like all the Seacrest references too. This show is just hilarious. I wonder if the professor from this episode is going to be a regular character. Senor Chang is also pretty awesome and I hope we get to see more of him.

This was my favorite episode so far. The Dead Poets Society reference was pretty great and John Michael Higgins pulled it off nicely. The Abed story may have been a little overboard with his obnoxiousness, but overall, it was a great episode.
