LOST “The Incident” Review

JOSH HOLLOWAY as Sawyer on Lost

What did you think of tonight’s season finale of LOST, “The Incident”?

I thought it was a freaking amazing way to end the season. I also think it’s freaking lame that we have to wait almost a year to find out what happens! At least we finally got to meet Jacob, and I loved the twist about him having a nemesis (as all good stories have one). What was your take on Jacob? I think he’s bad. Sure he was nice to Kate, Jack, Sawyer and Hurley in the past, but I got a weird vibe from him when he stood there and watched Nadia get hit by a car. It seemed like he was doing everything in his power to get them to all come back to the island, which makes him no better than Ben in my opinion.

On the flip side, this nemesis of his doesn’t seem so classy either, parading around as John Locke and plotting murder. Also, here’s a question. Alpert says he’s the way he is because of Jacob. So if Jacob is dead, will Alpert start to age? The last thing we hear Jacob say is, “they’re coming.” Is he referring to the crew carrying around Locke in a container? For some reason the warning felt a bit more ominous to me than that. And what was all that about Lapidus being a “candidate:? Are these truly the good guys?

I thought the other story involving Jack and Sawyer was just as intense. Were they preventing future events from happening or laying the foundation for them? Let me just say though that there is no way Juliet could have survived that fall. She’s no Gandalf, although I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out she’s alive next season. That’s the only thing that makes me think that the whole bomb thing will work as Jack planned. I don’t think they would have killed off Faraday, Sayid, Locke, and Juliet if there wasn’t a way to undo it. As always, we’ll all have our theories (which I hope you will share with me here), but at the end of the day we’ll just have to wait and see what the final season reveals!

I actually think that Jacob is good. I think there is a bigger plan that we don’t know about yet.

I also doubt that they prevented the plane crash because then that means we spent 5 years watching events that can be erased just by a bomb? Maybe Miles was right and the bomb is what brought the plane down.

Plus I think it’s ok for them to kill of characters, they have been doing it from the start so why should this time be any different, especially since the show is almost over.

Either way, I cannot wait to find out what happens next, and I resent the fact that we have to wait another year.

Theory: Jacob’s nemesis is Smokey. He is masquerading as Ben. Think about it… Smokey can shape shift into whoever he wants. He is tied to the island. Remember when Ben was being judged by smokey? Ben steps away, and smokey appears. It morphs into Ben’s daughter and tells Ben to follow Locke. It vanishes, and Locke returns.

Hmmm, interesting David. I seem to recall Ben summoning the smoke monster earlier that ep, but then Locke comes walking out of the jungle right when Ben expects smokey to show up.

I’ve been flip flopping all day on my opinion of Jacob. I think he will turn out to be a good guy. He seems more mysterious than sinister. It is disturbing that he let Nadia die unless he plans on bringing her back to life after all the time shifting is sorted out.

I don’t think Jacob is really dead I think he will be back. Also, I was surprised how normal Jacob looked. I expected that he would be real creepy. I think it was the shack and the rocking chair that always freaked me out. In my mind I always thought of Jacob looking more like the old lady from the movie PSYCHO.

I liked David’s take on Smokey.

I think David mis-spoke. Clearly Smokey is masquerading as Locke, since Locke’s dead body was in that crate. So Ben was not Smokey, Ben was Ben.
