I loved the season finale!! I thought that the face of between Clark and Doomsday was lame! But it was good overall!

  • mhee

    This episode was RIDICULOUS
    HORRID
So disjointed and horribly put together as to be worse than refuse.
Chloe, sure not a super krypton brain but she HEALS people …HELLO?
What’s with the interaction of all the superheros
Davis Doomsday split and each ending was so painful to watch (in so much as I HAD anticipated it would be good, thought out, interesting)
Smallville is my favorite show (was a tie with Stargate SG-1 but since that’s gone – and SG Universe looks like a joke – What on earth was this nonsense?
and I’ll agree with the above…… Zod back? What on earth? That’s just pathetic….. I suppose it could still be the alternative and could just be a representative of the best of krypton – but that would be pathetic also…….

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
    WHAT THE………………………………………………………..

It’s almost like they WANT to piss off the fans so we will be ok with it being over………….. almost like they WANT to tick us off so much we will be happy if they actually give up now and don’t do the agreed upon next season.

The only good or enjoyable thing in the finale was Jimmy finding out the secret. As soon as that happened I’m sure every single person knew he had to die but
    1) This would be impossible for him to die in relation to his place in the Superman saga though it looks like the passing of the torch to his bro meant to possibly replace him especially with his complexion. How do we justify naming him the same thing???
    2) Chloe can heal people so why wouldn’t she just fix Jimmy?

Everything else in the show was complete doo-doo.

  • Julio

As much as i love smallville, im sorry to say but this episode was horrible. I dont understand why chloe didnt heal jimmy and the whole fight with clark and doomsday was 1 minute long. these new writers have really messed up this show. season 8 had its moments but has been by far the worst smallville season. anyone else agrees?

I was disappointed, and I am one of the biggest fans of the show(I’m age 46). There are a lot of unanswered questions. First of all, the legion(from the future) says that they don’t know Chloe, so it would have seemed she would die. The fact that Jimmy Olsen isn’t the same “Jimmy Olsen” must have been planned a long time ago, after all, Jimmy was always younger than Clark. This had always puzzled me, but I am still perplexed how his younger brother will want to be called “Jimmy” someday. I was sure there would be a big battle between Clark and Doomsday. My guess is that it’s not the writers, but they didn’t have clearance to spend the amount of $$$ needed to film a good long fight scene. I am certain of this. Chloe could have saved Davis, and since not, there should have been an explanation. Lastly, Davis killing Jimmy goes totally against character. Remember, he wasn’t conscious when Doomsday did the killing. Davis was always humane until he became Doomsday. This all seems too contrived, perhaps just for sheer shock value. Shame on them.
Any comments to my comments. and —- We need Lex!!!!!!

I was expecting a good wrap up to a good season. But, what we got was THIS?? The only lose end tied up was Jimmy finding out he was right all along. . .and then they kill him off. Hey look, it’s the Legion. . .but wait, not really. And then Lois finds the ring and is gone. Davis is played out to be a truly good guy when he’s human, and then he kills off the guy that we grew to like. That didn’t fit his character, other than the fact that he was getting annoying about the “Oh Chloe, don’t go away” b.s. I’m glad they killed him off, I’m sure lot’s of fans were just about tired of him. Tess on the other hand, good character development. . .but poor direction in the finale. She fights Lois, and that’s it til the end with the whole Zod thing cropping up again. Great. . .just what we need. 70 years of Superman lore and they go back to Zod again?? Now Kandor was a great step in the right direction, but we’ll see where that goes. Oh and one final note: the whole flying thing. This is getting ridiculous. I was at Comicon 08 and was at the discussion for this season of Smallville, and the developers were asked DIRECTLY if Clark would fly, and they said the rule of ‘no tights, no flights’ will be changed to just ‘no tights’ this season. Great follow through guys. Want to know what a good season finale is? Watch the finale for Supernatural. It wrapped up all loose ends for the season and left a huge cliffhanger to deal with next season.

i am an avid smallville fan. i haven’t watched smallville for more then half the season. but i was hoping, today, after giving up my chest workout, for a great season finale. since the title said, doomsday, i thought this would make for a great finale, man was i wrong. i love smallville, but i say, just put the show out of its misery. just end it. zod, why is zod back at this point. 1 minute fight with doomsday, man what a dissappointment.

  • ScottMac

So after the entire seasons build up to Doomsday, what an epic battle. Where the F did Lois go? Are the writers running out of ideas or do they just want to continue beating a dead horse with the return of Zod? If they wanted to bring back a previous villain, why not Bizzaro? At least then they could revise the character and make him more true to original superman lore. was it my imagination, or was clark flying in the opening scene? I am a fan of Smallville but an even bigger fan of superman, if this series continues to crank out crap shows, I’m going to stop watching. They are doing a disservice to the Man of Steel. this is sacrilege.

  • scifidan

I agree this was a terrible ending. What was the deal with Chloe saying all that all the heroes were missing? They were all at the funeral. The last scene made no sense and Clark disappears? what in the world?

  • Doorag

I thought the ending was good. It was just to start off the next season and to project Clark into his Superman persona. If you do not like watching Smallville then leave, but do not be leaving these comments like “end it already” when there are others who rely on this show and look forward to it every week. I think it was great show, as it will set up a HUGE season nine and made many things possible. You people are missing the point. Smallville is NOT about Superman, it is about the character and skills he developed along the way. I wish he would have told Lois his secret along with other things, but I know that the producers want to make Season 9 really big. Being that this has been a nine-year show, I am sure they want to end it with a bang.

  • THIS WAS CRAP

This was a truly horrible episode. the only reason i watched the episode, was to watch the dynamics between cloe and davis. to have them kill off davis in such a uncharacteristic fashion, leaves me with no respect for the writers. if they were going to do this, they should not have built his character up as they did. Clack is too much of a goody goody to interest me, he’s so predictible they should just really get rid of him. Anyway, thier was nothing in this last episode to entice me to watch the next season. Hopefully something else will come out, cause superman is dead.

  • Hawk Girl

The first time I saw the episode I was disappointed. But then I saw it again at a later time on another channel and I actually thought it was really good. Think about it. What will next year’s season bring? Don’t worry about Doomsday, he’ll come back to fight Clark Kent when he’s actually Superman. What’s really cool about this episode is that Clark has now lost his human side. Lois, who most likely has gone to a future 1000 years ahead of the present, will likely see a different kind a Superman (one who’s lost touch with his alter ego Clark Kent) meaning that perhaps Superman and Lois don’t hook up to become the legendary couple we all know and love. What will happen then? Will the Legion tell her that she and Clark belong together? Will she be the one who will bring back Clark Kent? Think about how great and heartfelt their reunion will be when she returns to the present time. We’ll probably know just how much Clark adores and misses Lois. Remember, we still got another season to go and hopefully a 10th. I think they did a great job. I’ll miss Jimmy though. I hope they bring him back somehow. I mean they did say the deaths will stick but they didn’t say for how long. I’ll guess we’ll see what happens in Season 9.

@ Doorag I not agree with you on a point man, you said “Smallville is NOT about Superman” but Clark kent WILL BECOME superman and it’s normal everybody is waiting to see his first real fly.. and if you look back.. the serie calls smallville but it’s been a long time Clark didn’t live in smallville anymore..
smallville is my favorite serie, I bought a few seasons on DVD but a season finale with this kind of episode it’s riddiculous.. Come back of Zod ? Dead of Jimmy ?
    It’s look like a joke.

  • PretenderNX01

A few things puzzled me but I was poking around at the Smallville wiki and read that Chloe hasn’t been seen using her healing ability since Brainiac possessed her. In “Odyssey” she tried to heal Clark but couldn’t and did not even offer to heal Ollie in “Toxic” so she must have lost that ability.
    http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Chloe#Powers_and_Abilities

And in the episode “Committed” Jimmy revealed that the story of his past he had told Chloe was a lie.
http://smallville.wikia.com/wiki/Jimmy_Olsen#Early_LifeSo perhaps when he reinvented himself Henry James started going by James/Jimmy. He might still be known to his family as Henry which could be how his younger brother James Bartholomew also goes by Jimmy Olsen.

  • http://FrancoMartel Franco Martel

This episode was crapy. I don´t know why made a figth scene with doomday too short. Even the old movies of superman has better figth scene. Even that Clark afraid to fly in the sky. The name is Smallville about Clark, but come on. The serie is in Metropolis. Please make Clark Character a man.
Jimmy was the short name of James, so jymmy´s parent give the same name to both kids. come on. think…think.
The only character who grow is LEX, please make a Clark a real heroes. almost 5 season we have the lack issue of Clark moral. Doomday is the only foe to push Superman to figth with his true power. Because he knows he must be stop of any cost.

  • http://larrybrendler.com Larry

“You must be Jimmy’s little Brother” Chloe said. What! She was going to marry Jimmy, and she never met his little brother! How is this possible. I know we didn’t know about him because he was a surprise, but this is a sibling of the man she almost married. Also, the man with “little brother” must be the father.
If Chloe hadn’t seen the “little brother” until that point, then she didn’t see the father until that point too, since it’s obvious at a funeral the boy and Father wouldn’t have been seperated. My point being that she didn’t even acknowledge the FATHER of Jimmy or the “Little Brother” Does that make any sense. The more I think about it, the more mad I get. It’s just terrible writing.

  • Oliver

Ok… no, not ok. Terrible, yeah that’s better! What a crappy fight, they shouldn’t have spent so much time in this chapter discussing about if CK should have killed or not Doomsday, we heard that issue all over the last chapters so there wasn’t need to discuss it anymore, we knew he weouldn’t do it.

Thing is, I started thinking a lot about the chapter, wondering why it was such a pile of crap and then I noticed something that none of you has discussed: Clark Kent is dead! Why?

    1. The guy from The Legion at the beginning of the chapter says “tomorrow is the day you die”
    2. CK “survived” magically the explosion that “killed” Doomsday? If the explosion was able to kill an indestructible alien, why wouldn’t it kill CK who was getting his butt totally kicked in a crappy-1-minute-fight? Imagine the the holly butt kick he would have received if it were a 2 minutes fight!!!
    3. CK himself says “Clark Kent is dead!” and even if he meant it figuratively I guess they put that for a reason.
    4. When he finishes talking with Cloe he vanishes! Seems something more like a ghost to me and he had no clue how he survived the explosion, because he didn’t!

When Superman revived in the comic he got some different superpowers, my guess is just like Doomsday turns invulnerable to what killed him and revives, maybe Superman has the ability to revive too with all of the yellow sun thing, and when he revives he gets new superpowers like flying? I’m not sure if any of this makes sense, but considering how bad writing they got for this season I think they may actually take in consideration my theory hehe

  • alex

I’m not gonna lie, smallville is not in my top 3 of shows but i like it. and i am not an expert on comic heroes but i know a few things ( and by few only the major things in the history)

first of let me get off my chest. I hate these ridiculous filler episodes that really have nothing to with the show. Example: Lana Lang is now a super hero!? but now can never be next to clarck again cause she is filled with kriptonite. why…..why….. why can’t they just say goodbye. why does it have to be some devestating, permanent event that says they can never be together. even super hero show have got to have boundries. especially when you are makiong a story about one of the greates heroes of all time.

i know the show is called smallville. but its still about kent AKA superman.
if they wanted to make up random stuff then they should of named it something els, or stop using characters the superman fights. Chloe has gotta go. I like her character which means i like the actress for playing so well. but she will get jobs in other shows or movies. lets move on. this would be my favorite show if they got rid of the filler episodes and put a cap in some of these random things they do, like creating a jimmy olsen character then changing it half way through cause they don’t like him or some uknown reason that we don’t know about. that was the worst season finally of any show i have ever watched. 21 episodes to hype doomsday up and they end it in a 1 minute fight with an explosion.

like i said, i don’t read comics. but i remember it on the news when they announced the death of super man. it was almost like he was a real person. people crying, flowers being lade out. people were so upset, that he had to bring back superman. and then you have (fill in spot) to end it like that. I was mad about how they ended bizzaro (which i believe season 6 finally was the best they had) but this is just horrible. and let the man fly already.

sometimes watching the show, i feel like the writers are the same people who write for one life to live, generals hospital, and as the world turns. if you
have to many episodes to work with. then do what lost did and drop to 16 episodes.

sorry this was long, but i have been holding that for 8 years. tom welling will be the guy i imagine when i talk about superman, and the green arrow is slowly taking over batmans’ spot as my favorite super hero. this shows gotta be great, cause if you can have writters mess it up this bad, and i can still watch it, then the show (and actors for that matter) must be at the top of the list. i will be expecting a lot of people to yell at me, all i can say is i am sorry, i just had to throw that out there and i hope you don’t stay mad. sorry for the horrible spelling but that’s why i am a soldier and not a writter.

  • Kuro

ok i hate to say it but…i feel like I’m living in retardvill after reading all of the comments left Chloe hasn’t been able to heal for ages now Zod coming back is no grate shock zod even took part in superman movies-and that’s along way ahead of this on the time line jimmy dieing ok that one does seem abit stupid but im sure they will *bring him back* or some stupid thing like that as for doomsday/davis they had basically became the same person by the end he could remember most of the later killings and knew every thing he was doing as doomsday later into the time line so he became corrupted him self and became a monster his lust for Chloe was the only thing that mattered to him not being human not being good just her when he knew he couldn’t have her BOOM psycho as for the superhero group working together ???? DUH ever hear of justice league or in this case im thinking it will be called Legion or some thing close to and again as for them not knowing Chloe well my bet would be at some point in the future every one will forget her or Maybe she didn’t want to be remembered by the looks of it she is a large part of what started Legion thus being watchtower maybe she is only known on record as Watchtower or some thing along them lines its all rather easy to explain if you think about it not to add right now Clark is cutting him self off from the world of humans to become the man of steal as every one knows him maybe in doing so Chloe will have a breakdown and thus become Watchtower only and live only to run what looks like a pre-Legion
