American Idol for Seniors

I was watching these videos from “Playing for Change: Peace Through Music,” an award-winning documentary, which features musicians around the world singing the same song. And it was so cool it got me thinking about why we don’t get talent like that in American Idol. But then I realized that the age limit prevents anyone above 28 from auditioning.

So I say, how about creating a new American Idol for “Seniors,” which would allow anyone above 28 to participate. I think we might be surprised the amount of talent to be found out there.

So what do you say? Would you watch American Idol with older contestants?

Watch the two Playing for Change videos below. The first video is a cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me” and the second video is “Don’t Worry” written by Pierre Minetti. If you want to learn more about Playing for Change, you can go to their website.

I would watch American Idol with older contestants on the show. I would love to see the show with contestants even in thier 50s all the way up thru thier 90s. I think that it is time to say good bye to the maximum age limit of 28 and get some superior talent. I say go for it and put it on National TV. I am praying for you all. So have at it.

How can a ”young” person have the musical maturity of a senior citizen with talent. I’m 71 and still can ‘wow’ an audience with my vocal talent and my big band which I ply to SRO audiences……..
