NCIS “Road Kill” Discussion

Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo)

I just finished watching the NCIS “Road Kill” episode and I have to say that I was a little bit dissapointed.

The investigation was boringly predictable and didn’t really make a lot of sense. How did the gigolo husband find out who was blackmailing him?

Also there was no real TIVA moment to speak of. I really feel like I am being lead by the nose with this back and forth between Tony and Ziva. Usually I don’t mind but for some reason, I am not in the mood today.

Hopefully next week will be better. What do you guys think? Leave your comments below.

It’s not true that there isn’t any Tiva moment…this dialogue was really cute:

Ziva: Tony i told you. I like to have fun in more adult ways.
    Tony: Reading?
    Ziva: Yes, reading.
Tony: Look, everybody enjoys a good book, but don’t you ever have the urge to just…act a little…
    Ziva: Childish?
    Tony: Silly, stupid, brainless
    Ziva: Like you.
    Tony: Exactly.
Ziva: Tony, you and I come from two totally different places. In my world you grow up, fast. You have no choice.
    Tony: Now you do.

Obviously we can’t have every week scenes like that in Cloak because:
    1. Not everybody likes Tiva
    2. The authors like to tease the audience (good or bad thing, it’s always like that)

For the episode I’m with you. I didn’t like it at all. Maybe it wasn’t so good because the writer of this one is totally new on the show…However I’m looking forward for the next episode, the Christmas one, that will air the 16th of Dicember. I have the feeling that it will be good and it will be full of Tiva ;)

You are right. That convo was a pretty cool tidbit. And the christmas episode should be pretty fun too. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

  • Screw Tiva

UGH no freaking TIVA i swear to god if they get together i’ll stop watching NCIS TIVA is like incest. there is no way they would work. Ziva deserves far better than that retard.

Characters hooking up IN show ALWAYS ALWAYS sucks. Tony is about as sexy as a rutting elephant. He’s not funny he should have stuck with that last chick she was the only person on the show that suited him.

They need to stay friends just friends anything else will ruin a good show with mushy in team uck. The only show Tony’s actor was ever good in was dark angel. He managed to pull of sexy there. NCIS? I’d rather see Ziva with McGEE -makes a disgusted face- Stop ruining my show with stupid relationships that don’t make sense at ALL.

i thought it was a great ep (not as good as last week obviously) but fun.. i actually think they are kind of writing ziva out of the show – she doesnt do the interview/interigation/ no shooting/punches..its stoped being authentic to her character…which is disapointing. all the other characters are elite in thier own way and she is just background. overall the ep was ok though.

“The investigation was boringly predictable and didn’t really make a lot of sense. How did the gigolo husband find out who was blackmailing him?”

Although I wouldn’t exactly say it was boring, I have to agree that the justifications were extremely lacking. How did he know who was blackmailing him? And why the hell did the neighbor kill him? I mean, the neighbor didn’t even LIKE the dead guy… they didn’t give any motive at all…

“Also there was no real TIVA moment to speak of. ”

People have to learn to appreciate the art of subtlety… Americans especially. The Germans get it! The verbal intercourse between Tony and Ziva was more than enough, especially since they are trying to tease us.

“UGH no freaking TIVA i swear to god if they get together i’ll stop watching NCIS TIVA is like incest. there is no way they would work. Ziva deserves far better than that retard.”

Okay, dude…you’re just jealous. I don’t think anyone would really care if you stopped watching the show, anyway, with your attitude.

“The only show Tony’s actor was ever good in was dark angel. He managed to pull of sexy there. ”

And now you’re crazy….. he spent most of DA playing a depressed nerd in a wheelchair! Now, I’m not saying depressed nerds in wheelchairs can’t be sexy, but………… yeah. Anyways. Tony’s character is awesome, and if you don’t like him…well you can go find yourself some gigolo murderer to make love to you, and then we can watch Tony figure out why you’re dead. :)

“i actually think they are kind of writing ziva out of the show – she doesnt do the interview/interigation/ no shooting/punches..its stoped being authentic to her character…which is disapointing. all the other characters are elite in thier own way and she is just background.”

It’s possible you and I are watching completely different shows… to say that they’re writing her out of the show is like saying they’re taking writing Marge out of the simpsons… Leelaa out of Futurama….. Lois from Malcolm in the Middle. You get the point.
But really, there has been nothing leading up to cutting Ziva…. in fact the creators of the shows have hinted at TIVA action this season. And what do you mean she doesn’t do the interview? She did one of the 2 interviews in this episode, she did an interview in last episode….and my memory doesn’t really extend beyond that.
But you missed the best scene of the season, if you think she hasn’t had any fight scenes… You know, the one where she kicks a bunch of marine ass when she thinks Tony gets shot?

Okay, so my overall impression was that the episode was a letdown, especially following the last two, very awesome episodes. But there were a few things I DID like about the episode. It wasn’t ALL bad. :)
First, Abby was adorable in this episode. I mean Abby is ALWAYS adorable. But she was particularly adorable here.
Second, I saw what seemed to me to be a hint of chemistry between Mcgee and Abby. Yes, I know it already happened, but I thought it ended way to abruptly, and, though I’m not hoping for anything too REAL, per se, I really enjoy the chemistry between these two characters. The two moments that caught my eye was A: when they were talking about Gibbs, and B: when McGee was looking over her shoulder near the end. ^^
Third, lovely subtle Tony Ziva exchange. I say don’t bother to dumb it down for people who can’t appreciate the art of subtlety. If you go too fast then the show will turn into a drama, with the characters breaking up every other episode, like, say… THE O.C. Seasons 2 and 3, in particular. Dear god…those were painful.
And finally, we only saw Vance once: in the credits. I don’t like him…. :)
So out of a 10 star rating I have to say the episode gets a 6.5… bad continuity brings it down, but is rescued by the fun verbal intercourse between the characters. The last two, by the way, got somewhere around a 9 to 9.5 on my scale. :)

    You’re welcome :D

So true…Tony and Ziva haven’t a clearly shipper interaction like in Cloak, but in this episode they were always near the other :P Plus Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly are really good in the body language and they often hint that Tony and Ziva are searching the other even if there isn’t any particular interaction between them ;)

*in fact the creators of the shows have hinted at TIVA action this season.*

    I’ve read this too ;)
