KNIGHT RIDER on NBC “Knight in Shining Armor” Early Review

KITT

The season premiere of the new KNIGHT RIDER “Knight in Shining Armor” was impressive in many ways, none of them good.

I can’t tell you how much I disliked this episode. I was a fan of the original Knight Rider with David Hasselhoff and I was hoping that the TV series would be better than Knight Rider: The Movie. Unfortunately Knight Rider did it not live up to the hype.

I thought the story was predictable. The characters were boring (except for KITT – Thank you Val Kilmer) and the overall rhythm of the episode was so cheezy that it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I kept hoping that it would get better but it really only got worse. It’s like the writers were trying out plot lines to see which one would stick. Knight Rider is a terrible remake of the original and IMHO, will end up cancelled like Bionic Woman.

What is it with NBC and remakes? It’s like they can’t get it right. First Bionic Woman and then Knight Rider. Jeez. A great concept but poorly executed.

What did you think of the Knight in Shining Armor? Am I being too harsh here?

Couldn’t agree more, I was a fan of the 1982 series and still watch those old episodes once in a while. I hate to say this but this show doesn’t even deserve 1 star. First of all, whats all those ppl at flag and what is the role of that asian women screaming idiotic things like “awesome” during dangerous situations. And KITT, do u remember how good the inside of the car looked, this thing only has a freak’n crystal ball as a voice display with some bullshit on the windshield. The car is way to computerized, what the hell is that when it transforms, it looks horrible, what are those drag racing wheels and the part where KITT transforms into a truck, isn’t that TRANSFORMERS material, it certainly doesn’t belong in Knight Rider. Dont even get me started on the dialogue, YUK. The only 2 actors that did a decent job was Mike Traceur and Sarah, scrap the rest. The only thing that was weird with Mike was during the car chase, doesn’t even pay attention to the road while he is chasing the car at high speed, pls how about a little pretend here…. Maybe the producers should go have a look at the 1982 episodes and try to learn from there. btw, all those CG effects, not becoz we are in 2008 and can do loads of special effects with computers doesn’t mean we should…a little less CG effects pls…

Didn’t see the pilot as the film industry have a long track record of remaking and completely destroying popular old shows. I saw the season 1 episode by chance “as there was nothing else on.” Episode 1 was just horrible, but it makes me want to see the pilot as there’s a mixed opinion on it, some think it’s great and some think it sucks. It appears that the film makers target were the younger generation. The incredible lack of story, bad acting and over use of CG proves that it was intended for kids that really don’t care about those things, just the special effects. They also used a girls car “the Ford Mustang” in an attempt to attract the female audience and did a piss poor job trying to get the male audience by slapping on more accessories than all the cars in Fast and the Furious, made the show the biggest joke on TV this year. I had a few drinks and thought this show was the funniest thing in the world, then I sobered up and realized it wasn’t a comedy.

By the way, an entire team of scientist and feds dedicated to 1 car and 1 man. Kinda weak!!! I would have gone with a team of scientist/engineers like the old show as it was a privately funded org., but throwing in Feds to rely on 1 car and 1 man (turning into a weak 007 movie). And of course, the spinning apparatus (name escapes me right now). The makers of the show (possibly the children who made Star Trek) prove once again that the overuse of fancy blinking lights (oops meant lasers lights for todays generation) can distract the audience into believing that there’s some serious technology going on. And what’s up with the pipes on KITT’s hood, it looks pretty gay, is that supposed to be the air intake for a blower? Looks like PVC pipes glued to the hood.
And the lights under the car, are people still doing that? Thought it was a stretch in Fast in the Furious (so 90′s).

Enough ranting, Fast and the Furious meets the Transformers, LOL!!!!! I hope they keep it on, I need a good comedy since That 70′s Show ended.
