JOSS STONE The New TUDORS Wife

Joss Stone

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the British singer Joss Stone has landed the role of Anne of Cleves, the fourth wife of Henry VIII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), on Showtime’s THE TUDORS.

A daughter of a German nobleman, Anne was betrothed to Henry in a marriage treaty between the Cleves Court and the king’s chancellor after Henry was shown a portrait of her.

Upon Anne’s arrival to England, Henry was disappointed in her looks and soon found a legal way to have the marriage annulled.

According to Showtime, the upcoming season of the racy royal drama will follow the king as he weds third queen Jane Seymour (Anita Briem) and then Anne of Cleves.

Well, that’s a news I wasn’t expecting. Joss Stone in Showtime’s best series, I am actually curious to see how she does and something tells me she might surprise quite a few people.

Well, I think that producers had a bad idea…
The real Anna Of Clèves wasn’t a real beauty, instead, we can say she was ugly. Joss isn’t ugly, am I right? Moreover, Anna was about 40 yo, and a bit overweight. All things that will be difficult for Joss to play. I would have seen good some other actress, for this role.

I think I read that the producers didn’t really believe that Anne of Cleves was ugly and so they decided to “rewrite history” if you will. I think Joss Stone is a good choice.
