Early Review: FX’s 30 DAYS – Season 3 Premiere

Morgan Spurlock

Tomorrow, June 3, FX’s amazing original unscripted series, 30 DAYS will premiere its 3rd season at 10pm.

This is the best unscripted series out there and it would be a shame for you to miss it.

30 Days features a diverse group of participants, each given the opportunity to experience first-hand a world antithetical to their own comfortable existence. Each installment examines a different subject, explore explosive topical issues and conducts fascinating social experiments. As each 30 Days participant learns about the lives and beliefs of others, viewers learn more about themselves.

I have already watched the entire season, which consists of six episodes, and loved every episode. I even wish there had been more, but because of the time it takes to film each segment, it’s understandable that the season would be so short.

In the first episode of the season, “Working in a Coal Mine,” Morgan Spurlock (creator of the show) experiences life as a coal miner in Pineville, West Virgina for 30 Days.

This episode sets the tone for what is to come this season. It gives you a look at the lives of coal miners in a way you have never seen before. During the 30 Days, Morgan Spurlock lives with a coal-mining family, and experiences their everyday lives, as well as the ups and downs.

The rest of the season follows a similar formula, but with different people each time. As for Morgan Spurlock, he will return in the very last episode of the season, “Life on an Indian Reservation.”

And to give you an idea of what else is coming this season, here is the title of the rest of the episodes:

1) “Working in a Coal Mine”
2) “30 Days in a Wheelchair”
3) “Animal Rights”
4) “Same Sex Parenting”
5) “Gun Nation”
6) “Life on an Indian Reservation”

And so don’t forget to tune in tomorrow, June 3, and watch 30 Days on FX at 10pm.

Coming up, we will have an interview with Morgan Spurlock himself to share with you, so keep an eye out.

This is a great series and the “Animal Rights” episode was *stunning*! It was amazing to see, in a single natural scene, the resistance of a die-hard hunter crumble and he start saying “THAT’S NOT RIGHT. ANIMALS SHOULDN’T BE TREATED THAT WAY.” His mouth was gaping open as he saw completely standard practice as they drove-up to a random farm and saw the works in the dirt yard completely mistreat the young cows. As the man he was with said, “If they were doing that to puppies, and they’re young as puppies, they’d be put in jail!” The “hunter” ended saying that he would forever be a changed man after what he saw [of the farm animal cruelty] and knows that all animals should have rights. Hurray!
