Review: AMERICAN IDOL “Top 12 Finalists”

And the competition is on! Tonight the Top 12 finalist of AMERICAN IDOL season 7 compete for the first time on a new stage.

Some did good and some did bad, want to know who, let’s find out:

1. Syesha Mercado

Thoughts: She was ok, nothing to get excited about. I probably won’t remember that performance tomorrow.

Rating: 2/4

2. Chikezie Eze

Thoughts: I might not like the guy’s attitude, but he brought it tonight! Go Chikezie. I have to give it to him, he did really good.

Rating: 4/4

3. Ramiele Malubay

Thoughts: She was not really good. I just didn’t care about the performance and I think I actually got up to do something while she was performing because I was bored.

4. Jason Castro

Thoughts: What is up with Simon and Randy! He was amazing! I even liked it better than last week. Jason Castro is one of my favorites. WOW!!!

5. Carly Smithson

Thoughts: Yes, she was pretty good. Although I will admit that she is not my favorite. I don’t know what it is, but I just cannot get excited about her. She can sing though, that’s for sure.

6. David Cook

Thoughts: I didn’t like it as much as last week, but it was ok. I definitely don’t think it was as good as Simon said. What is up with that, I usually agree with Simon, but tonight not at all. He will be back next week for sure.

7. Brooke White

Thoughts: Brooke White is amazing every week. I absolutely love her. Another great performance. She is my favorite of the girls and I cannot wait to hear more performances.

8. David Hernandez

Thoughts: Yeah, that wasn’t too good was it. Pretty boring. That’s about it, I just didn’t really care about it.

9. Amanda Overmyer

Thoughts: For some reason, Amanda Overmyer is not winning me over. I really liked her at the beginning, but lately I haven’t enjoyed her performances that much. Maybe it’s the song choice, but either way, I don’t really care about her right now.

10. Michael Johns

Thoughts: He gets points just for picking “Across the Universe” as his song. Other than that I thought he did pretty good. Not amazing but good enough for me. He’ll be back next week.

11. Kristy Lee Cook

Thoughts: I’m not sure how I feel about her performance. I like Kristy Lee Cook and I didn’t thought the performance was terrible, but it wasn’t great. I don’t think the country twist was a good idea at all.

12. David Archuleta

Thoughts: And David Archuleta crashes and burns tonight. It was just not good. I feel bad because you could tell that he was nervous, but you know, it’s a competition so that’s just the way it is, you can’t choke on stage. He’ll be back next week though, I’m not worried.

Here are the contestants I think might be in trouble: Kristy Lee Cook, David Hernandez, and Ramiele Malubay.

Guess we will have to tune in tomorrow at 9pm to find out if I was right.

I like Carly, but did you notice how they wouldn’t show her husband? They kept showing the wrong guy. Her husband, if you recall from her audition, has his face tatooed. Do you think AI is afraid to show him on camera, thinking that it may cause Carly to lose votes?

You know I didn’t even remember her husband, so I didn’t realize they weren’t showing him. That’s an interesting theory though, now I’m going to be on the lookout to see if they show her husband. To be continued…

How are you liking this season otherwise?

I like the season so far. I really do think it’s the best season yet. They have a lot of talented people on there this season. Besides Carly I think Michael, David Cook and Brook have a very good shot at making it to the finals. We’ll see.

Really, you think it’s the best one? I have to disagree. But I do like David Cook and Brooke White as well. And Jason Castro is really awesome too.

We’ll have to talk more about this in the coming weeks.

I read all the comments about the last performance. I completely agree!, couldn’t have said it better.
For example, for me Jason’s “If I fell” was BEAUTIFUL!, I loved this “boring” song, to the point I am listening to it several times a day!. I believe it even better than his last performance.
Carly, big voice!, pretty girl but… for me lacks of charisma. I just don’t know why I don’t quite like her! I love Brooke instead!
David Cook. Even when he is very good, he has too many famous singers in the market to challenge!. I don’t think people are in need of more!… Too many with similar styles and good voices.

Isabella, it’s nice to know I am not the only one who isn’t blown away by Carly.

I am a big fan of Jason Castro as you can tell and Brooke White is amazing as well.

I cannot wait to see how they all do this week.

Big fan of Jason too! . He reminds me of Neil Dymond, James Taylor, Cat Stevens. and others big singers. He also has a very unique style, and has that special gift to connect with his songs and the audience.
And about others favorite… I think David Archuleta was overrated. Since the show started he had so much promotion and he’s been shown as the favorite to all judges!
Not good for the contest, and not good for young David, who is probably realizing at this point , he ‘s not the only one with chances to win!. There is great talent this year!
I believe that is what got him so nervous in his last performance!
Well, lets hope our Jason keeps on choosing he right songs!
