RHI’s JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH on ION – Promo and Preview Clips

RHI's Journey to the Center of the Earth

This Sunday January 27, you might want to take a look at RHI’s TV movie JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH, starring Rick Schroder, Victoria Pratt, and Peter Fonda.

Let’s face it, there isn’t much to watch on television this Sunday (except Hallmark Hall of Fame’s movie, The Russell Girl), so why not try something new. TV movies have been getting better and better and I have already set up my DVR to record Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Synopsis: “Journey to the Center of the Earth” – After noted explorer Edward Dennison vanishes, a search party, headed by anthropologist Jonathan Brock, embarks on a mission to trace Dennison’s last known tracks through a secret passage in Alaska—a gateway to the very center of the Earth. What the team discovers is an underworld tribe of primitive warriors and prehistoric dangers unknown to civilization. (Source: RHI Entertainment)

Watch Journey to the Center of the Earth on January 27 at 9 pm on ION.

    Here we go again! Another version of Verne’s classic tale… and similar to the one done by Hallmark Channel a few years ago… same executive producers and some of the same plot line ideas… most of this new film is not even reminiscent of Jules Verne’s book..or the 1959 movie which far esceeds this new effort!

    I never really got the feeling that these explorers were deep in the Earth at all, traipsing around through dense forests and such! Where are the spooky caverns, the twisting, limestone labyrinths of the subterranean underworld… the giant mushroom forest..the Lindenbrook Sea?

    After seing the televised rendition with Treat Williams and Jeremy London a few years ago, I thought that this new installment would finally give sci-fi fans the adventure they had hoped for… not just a rehashed replay of the earlier Hallmark film!
    The last spoken lines of dialougue in this latest RHI version sum it up appropriately;

    ” After all…a journey to the center of the earth? Who in their right mind would believe it?”

    My question is: “Who would want to waste two hours to find out?”

    You are so absolutely right… that’s exactly what I thought when I tuned this DULL flick in. It was so far removed from the original story and the legendary 1959 James Mason/Pat Boone version it caused me to fall asleep. Just a very cheap, unimaginative retelling with nothing very exciting to see. And the dull soap opera subplots between characters was even more torturous. To think they spent a pile of money on this thing makes me sick. Complete and total irrelevant crap.
