PICTURES OF HOLLIS WOODS premieres tonight on CBS

PICTURES OF HOLLIS WOODS - Jodelle Ferland as Hollis Woods and Sissy Spacek as Josie Cahill on CBS

I wanted to make sure I mentioned the premiere of “Hallmark Hall of Fame” TV movie, PICTURES OF HOLLIS WOODS, at 9pm tonight on CBS.

If you want a break from TV shows or just want to watch a sweet movie on a Sunday night, Hallmark TV movies never fail to warm our hearts. And with wonderful actors like Sissy Spacek and Alfre Woodard, it’s hard to go wrong.

Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movies never fail to make me cry. I don’t always watch them, but the last one I saw was “The Magic of Ordinary Days” starring Keri Russell and Skeet Ulrich, and I loved it. Tonight I will be watching Pictures of Hollis Woods because it looks like such a sweet, feel-good movie and I am always up for that.

Check out the promo for Pictures of Hollis Woods, story, and more pictures below.

Don’t forget to watch Pictures of Hollis Woods tonight at 9pm on CBS.

Story: Abandoned as a baby, Hollis Woods (Jodelle Ferland, “The Secret of Hidden Lake”) has been in more foster homes than she can count. Edna (Woodard), her more than patient social worker, is at her wits end when she places Hollis in the home of Josie (Spacek), a retired teacher whose house and yard are filled with her own artistic creations. Josie immediately takes to Hollis, understands the troubled youngster, and is delighted to discover that Hollis is an artist herself.

Hollis responds to Josie’s warmth and openness, and begins to feel like she’s found a place to call home. But, Hollis becomes alarmed when she realizes that Josie is growing increasingly forgetful and confused by routine tasks. Hollis is afraid that when Edna becomes aware of the problem, Hollis will be forced to move again.

In an attempt to stay together, Hollis plans a bold escape and takes Josie to the vacant summer home of the Regan family, the foster family with whom Hollis spent the previous summer. The Regans wanted to adopt Hollis … and the skeptical young girl had gradually come to believe that might be possible. But, when the Regans’ teenaged son (Ridge Canipe) was seriously injured in an accident, things fell apart for Hollis again. Returning to the Regan home is bittersweet for her.

On the run, their plight becomes more desperate as Josie’s forgetfulness grows worse and 12-year-old Hollis must now take care of Josie … instead of the other way around.

Hello, we were curious as to whether or not “The Pictures of Hollis Woods” was based on a true story–do you know? Thanks!

  • http://daemonstv.com Daemon’s TV

It’s actually based on the novel “Pictures of Hollis Woods” by Patricia Reilly Griff.

  • Diane

I don’t know where you can watch the movie again, but I know you can buy the DVD. You can find more information on the Hallmark website.

  • Ron Little

I missed the beginning of the movie and really want to see it again too. Great movie and Jodelle, (Hollis) was really great.

  • Lori

What a wonderful family film! My daughter (seventh grader) is reading the Newberry book too! I would recommend it to anyone!

    Hello,

Will someone please help Diane (see entry above) and me out? I too missed the last 20 minutes of “Pictures of Hollis Woods.” Now that the movie has been shown, will someone please fill us in. I have surmised from what I read the Hollis returned to the Regans. What happened to Josie?

    Thanx

JODELLE FERLAND WAS EXCEPTIONAL. WHERE DID SHE LEARN SUCH POISE AT 12.WHAT HAS SHE PLAYED IN?

  • Gary

    Lloyd,
Jodelle recently starred in the movie Silent Hill. She was also in the TV movie Sole Survivor and Tideland. Tideland was a weird film (you may not like it) but it really showcases Jodelle’s talent. You may want to check out http://www.imdb.com for Jodelle’s list of films/television appearances.

My DVR didn’t start recording Pictures of Hollis Woods until it was 20 minutes into the movie.. Therefore, I missed the last 20 minutes. Will it be broadcasted again? If not, how did it end?

  • Lorie

i too missed the end of the from the late start when i viewed it on my dvr. i wrote cbs.com
    here is my letter

If cbs really cares then let me send you to a site where we were not able to watch the movie Pictures of hollis woods so we set our recorders and 20 minutes into the recording the movie started. with that said. we missed the last 20 minutes of the movie. …http://www.daemonstv.com/2007/12/02/pictures-of-hollis-woods-premieres-tonight-cbs/……. we have not idea how it ended…… how sad for us. again if cbs really cares do you think we could have a reshowing of the program? with the writers strike going on this would not be a waste of anything. or maybe put the last 30 minutes on your web site for us to view. If you care please let me know. thanks for listening.

this movie was so awesome. It was extremely heart warming. I loved it, it brought me to tears. The only things is, when I went to purchase it becasue I loved it so much, no one could find it. Can anyone tell me where I can buy this movie?

I, too, was not able to see the end of the movie which was very frustrating. Please let me know if/when it will air again…………………Thank you !

Will the movie “Pictures of Hollis Woods” be aired again on any of the networks anytime soon?
    * I just watched the encore airing of the View with guest Sissy Spacek and now wish to view the film. * I can certainly appreciate how viewers feel about the football game running long. * Wouldn’t it be great if the shows scheduled to follow sporting events were re-run of sitcoms or something else that could be skipped entirely if the game were to run long?
    * I am in Toronto with only basic cable viewing available.
    Please advise. Thanks.

Its a shame that a good company like Hallmark was able to put up with this. when we pay companys to cover events to have us able to record when we are not able to view them yet they do not let us record option to extend time. I wish that hallmark would just have on there site just the end of the program the last 1/2 hour. to cover the people who were not able to see the end. people look above I have posted a place where you can complain. let your voices be heard maybe if enough people complain they will do just as we want.

So, I finally wound down from the holidays and back to work and found the time wihtout anyone around to sit and enjoy this great story that I had so anticipated watching. It was Hallmark, so naturally I was gonna get a great warmhearted cry out of it. Plus the old commercials that I remember from years of growing up watching Hallmark movies that they unfailingly remember to repeat for our rememberance. What an absolute unfailing atrocity that this great movie has no end. I felt a big cry coming on to see Hollis likely reunited and everyone lives happily Ever After….it’s Hallmark!! Of coarse they do. Not in TV Land apparently!! There’s no Happily Ever After for the millions of people that care to watch Hollis Woods rather than a football game that is the obvious source of the delay that caused my DVR to not record the last 20 minutes of the film. And by the looks of the rest of the comments on here, well…let’s just say that if it weren’t Hallmark or that I was worried my comments wouldn’t be shared, there are a couple more words that I would say and they would not be “Happy Birthday!” I just bought my kid 24 Webkinz for Christmas (and that’s it, because that’s all I could afford this year – Webkinz). Am I seriously throwing money into a loving, caring, self-proclaimed Utopic company?!?!? Hallmark, do YOU care enough to send the very best? Find a spot ~ Any spot and send us all the link. That is, if you care enough.

FYI – I just sent off a quick note to CBS asking (nicely) for air date info for this quality film.
Perhaps concise (short) pleasant notes from others would assist CBS in prioritizing/reviewing the situation.

    kayla & vo,

I’m not sure if CBS is going to air the movie again. I would suggest checking your local listing.
