I haven’t been that excited for a miniseries for a while, but Sci-Fi’s TIN MAN is definitely the must-see miniseries this year. I haven’t seen it yet, but have been looking forward to it since the first time I wrote about it back in June.
I am a big fan of miniseries, mostly because it’s fun to get an ending and it’s like watching a really long movie. Plus, every year, miniseries get better and better, I mean look at Tin Man, I don’t think I’m wrong in saying that it looks at least as good or even better than some of the movies out right now.
The first episode airs Sunday December 2nd at 9pm on the Sci-Fi Channel. The next two episodes will air Monday and Tuesday respectively at 9pm. Don’t forget to set your DVR.
For now enjoy more pictures from Tin Man below.
The Story of Oz: A fierce tornado rips DG (Zooey Deschanel) from her clock-watching life as a waitress and deposits her with a shocking bump on “the other side.†The O.Z. (Outer Zone) has been plunged into a decade-long night of fear by the sorceress Azkadellia (Kathleen Robertson). Aided by her Longcoat storm troopers and winged Mobat (“monkey batâ€) spies, she has seized power from her own mother, the rightful queen known as Lavender Eyes (Anna Galvin), and compromised such once-potent Ozian leaders as the Mystic Man (Richard Dreyfuss). Even the tiny but fierce Resistance Fighters of the Eastern Guild are losing hope that the sorceress can be stopped.
Azkadellia’s burning ambition: To possess the Emerald of the Eclipse, end the royal line of Glinda and bring literal everlasting darkness to the O.Z. Her problem: Only DG knows the emerald’s location and the map coordinates are buried in her subconscious. With every step down the Old Brick Road, DG sheds her old identity and embraces her true destiny. Along the way she collects a group of ragged but loyal fellow travelers. Glitch (Alan Cumming) has lost his brain in Azkadellia’s torture chamber. Wyatt Cain (Neal McDonough) is a heartbroken ex-cop (or “Tin Manâ€) whose wife and child were abducted by the Longcoats. The fearful, nerve-shattered Raw (Raoul Trujillo) is one of the half-wolverine oracles who have been cruelly used and discarded by Azkadellia. And then there’s Toto (Blu Mankuma), a shape shifter who can transform from dog to man in a heartbeat.
Heeding the whisper of her own emerging memories, DG realizes that only she can halt Azkadellia’s twisted master plan. A visit with the “Blunderful Mystic of Oz†in Central City, imprisonment in the sorceress’s tower and a daring escape on the road south to the Realm of the Unwanted all deliver startling revelations about a bewitched land that’s no place like home. Or, to quote the famous words Baum wrote for one of literary fiction’s most beloved characters, “I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.â€
